The Silver Gate Swings

The Silver Gate Swings
by Robert Louis Stevenson & Me

How do you like to go up in a swing,
up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
ever a child could do!

Up in the air and over the grass,
Till I can see so wide,
River and tree and moose and all,
Over the mountain pass...

Till I look up to the glacier white,
Down on the buffalo brown,
Up in the air I go high as a kite,
Up in the air and down!

Larissa - ha! I was doing this really quickly while getting ready for potluck. I had the thanks to R.L.S. up at the top but once I put in the pics it bumped down to the bottom. Then I posted it and running over to the church thought - "Oh good grief, that was pretty much plagiarizing!" I couldn't enjoy my meal thinking about it then rushed over right after Bible study to change it. Yikes. Please forgive me :-P

Plagiarism? I hadn't even thought of that. I just meant I liked how you adjusted [one of my favorite poems, ever] to fit your life there in the Montanic gorgeousness. Sorry to hear you were stressed about it!

I'm obviously a paranoid wreck! Anyway, thank you! I love this poem. I memorized it when I was little and it goes through my head every time I'm in a swing :-)
