Charissa Goes to SCAT

Every week a group of lovely ladies from the Sunlight Basin and Crandal area (about 20 minutes away) meet for SCAT, Sunlight Crandal Artistic Teadrinkers.  During the winter, they usually meet for a meal and then knit or sew while visiting.  This summer, since the weather has been so glorious, individual ladies have graciously hosted different outings ranging from picnics to trap shooting.  Today was hosted by Susan at the Elk Creek Ranch.  Their summer riding program had a gymkhana and we came to watch.  Susan kindly allowed Charissa to join in the fun and let me tell you, that little girl thought she'd died and gone to heaven!

After meeting a pretty new friend and eating a delicious lunch we went on a long walk.

It was beautiful and full of wildflowers.
Look at that face, will you?  Where does that come from?

She enjoyed blowing cottonwood fluff into the face of her wonderful friend, Sheri, while everyone else watched barrel racing.

Then she let her dolly "Charlotte" play in the sprinkler.
(Charlotte's mommy got pretty soaked herself!)

And she went swinging in the amazing hammock.

This young horse could not figure out what that little human was up to.

"What is that strange thing over there???"

While watching the barrel horses Charissa kept telling me that someday she would ride a horse and it would run and run.  Well, this sweet boy, Charro, didn't run and run but he was certainly a gentleman and granted the wish of a very excited, if slightly hesitant, little girl.  Oh thank you, Susan, for letting her!

A lifelong memory has been made :-)
Maybe someday she'll be at Elk Creek Ranch for a whole summer...

...and then her horse can run and run!
