Dilemma: Update

Since I know you've been on pins and needles regarding the status of Jack's...well...you know.  I thought I'd give an update.

Yesterday, I went to look at some boy's clothes I had seen on Craigslist.  The mother lived in town and although she worked during the day, her mother was at their home caring for her grandkids.

This is about Jack, I promise.

Well, I got there and while looking at the clothes, I started chatting with the grandma.  She lived on the road just south of our home but drives into town every day to watch her grandbabies.

And yes, they have a yellow dog named Jack and yes, he is ALWAYS gone and only comes back to eat or if they are having barbeque.  He likes the smell.

So I told her he is at our home most of the time.  We don't mind him, he's nice to our daugter, and he seems to love our dog, Missy.

Then she told me he's our dog, that's he's due for his shots, they don't need a dog that won't hang around.

I laughed and said we had a dog...we're moving soon...we don't need another dog...  Then she changed the subject.

I came home and told Doug, "I think she gave him to us.  I'm not sure."

Doug said, "Well, he can be our dog but we aren't feeding him and we aren't getting him shots."

So...I think he's our dog.  I think?

seems like the jury is still out on this one. If you aren't feeding him or giving him shots????? And if you move will he go with??

Well, what do you do if someone basically thrusts a dog upon you? I don't know if our own critters will be able to come with us - depending on where we move. I guess we'll see if his vaccine tag is renewed anytime soon. In the meantime, he's pretty happy and well-fed looking. Ah, country dogs.

Hannah--we have gotten three dogs this way. The first was our dachsund, when we were little, and twice we moved into houses where people had left their black lab mixes behind for us to care for! At least country dogs are easy keepers.I hope you get news about your future soon. As a military wife, I know how that feels very well. Faith sure comes in handy at a time like that!

Joanne - it's true, country dogs are easy keepers!

Thank you for the encouragement on moving. Since I grew up in the military, I guess I view an "assignment" as something new and exciting! There is some uncertainty, but resting in God's perfect will has brought complete peace. We're excited to see what the future holds.
